Install fable in a minute.
We are working on getting fable onto the Chrome Web Store. Until it is there, you add it yourself. Seven steps, no account. Works in Chrome, Brave, Edge and Arc.
The backstory behind every account on your timeline. Rugs, real devs, paid shills.
Check it yourself in five minutes.
You do not have to trust us. Every line of fable is public, and each check points at the exact file.
It only runs on x.com and twitter.com, and the only permission is saving your settings. No other sites, tabs, history, cookies, downloads or files. Chrome enforces that list.
manifest.jsonEvery network call is in one file and goes to fable’s own servers. Fonts and artwork are bundled, so nothing else is loaded.
src/background.jsChrome extensions cannot download and run new code after install. The settings fable fetches are switches and wording, never code.
src/config.jsIt copies the public posts and profiles X already loaded for you. Every request passes through unchanged. DMs, bookmarks and settings are never touched, and it never posts or follows.
src/inject.jsIt reads one value: your public X user id, used to remove everything about you before anything is sent. Your X login cookie cannot be read by any extension script.
src/capture.jsThe zip is built straight from the published code. Its SHA-256 on GitHub’s release matches the one on this page.
Latest releaseThe full walkthrough is in the README. What fable’s servers do with what they receive is covered by the privacy policy.
We are working on the store listing now. Once fable is on the Chrome Web Store it updates itself, and we have a lot of updates lined up for right after it lands. Until then, new versions come from fable.market and GitHub, and we announce each one from @fableonrobin.
Chrome shows this notice for every extension added this way. Close it and fable keeps running.
Download the new zip, unzip it over your old fable folder, then press the reload arrow on fable’s card in chrome://extensions.
Same steps. The page is brave://extensions in Brave and edge://extensions in Edge. In Arc, open Extensions from the menu.
The whole extension is public on GitHub and the zip is those exact files.
